Senior Choir Perform Heartfelt Pieces at Lights of Love

Last Friday, talented singers from Hawford’s Senior Choir performed in the annual Lights of Love service at Worcester Cathedral, held in aid of St Richard’s Hospice.

The heartfelt event, which honours and celebrates the lives of loved ones, includes the opportunity for people to light candles in memory of loved ones. It is always a great honour to be involved in this very meaningful event.

The Senior Choir performed three moving pieces during the service: Somewhere Only We KnowWake Me Up Before September Ends, and Stand By Me, for which they received high praise from the congregation for their stunning performances. It was a wonderful opportunity to contribute to a very worthwhile event and to sing in the cathedral’s extraordinary acoustics.

St. Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity that provides care for adults with serious progressive illnesses, enhancing their quality of life from diagnosis through treatment and into their final days, while also supporting their loved ones.

Donations from the Lights of Love initiative help fund the hospice’s specialist care for patients, their families, and bereaved individuals across Worcestershire. The charity depends on public donations and gifts in wills for the majority of its funding, with the remaining income provided by the NHS.

For over 20 years, St Richard’s Hospice has organized Lights of Love services across Worcestershire. Since 2010, King’s Hawford has performed at the afternoon service, an event that holds a special place in our calendar each year.
