Year 2 Discover Worcester’s Wonders
This week has been very exciting for Year 2, who have been very busy exploring the many interesting sights of Worcester.
Worcester Cathedral and City tour
Year 2 enjoyed a fascinating visit to Worcester Cathedral, where they learned about Christian symbols, sang interactive “repeat after me” songs, and discovered the history of the cathedral. Their guide, Rob Jones, a former Archdeacon of Worcester, shared many interesting stories and facts.
The children also took part in a history tour of Worcester with local historian Paul, who showed them historic buildings and marks on walls that revealed stories from the past.
During their visit to the Guildhall, they met the new Mayor, who welcomed them into her office. The children had great fun trying on ceremonial hats and seeing the Mayor’s gold chain up close.
Diglis Fish Pass
Later in the week, the Year 2 children had an exciting visit to Diglis Fish Pass, where they learned how to stay safe near rivers and canals. The children discovered how the fish pass helps fish travel along the River Severn and even went downstairs to see it working in action.
They also took part in an Epic Engineering team-building workshop, working together to create giant marble runs. This helped them understand how engineers can slow down the flow of water and reduce its impact. It was a fun and engaging day of learning and teamwork.
