Festive Fun has begun in Kindergarten

It is safe to say that festive fun has begun in Kindergarten. With around a month to go until the big day the excitement of Christmas is building day by day. This week our Kindergarten children have taken part in several Christmassy activities. The Kindergarten classrooms are slowly being transformed with plenty of wonderfully festive creations including holly leaves, baubles, snow flakes and reindeer!

Children in Kindergarten 2 have carefully crafted some wonderful Christmas cards for the food bank. They have spent time creating salt dough Christmas decorations for the tree and have made some fantastic snowflakes and baubles for the windows.

The older children have also been working hard on their Nativity which takes place next week. The Kindergarten 2 children will be joining forces with children from Reception to tell the Nativity story. This week the children have spent time learning about the different roles in the Nativity story. All of the Kindergarten 2 staff are very proud of the efforts the children are putting into learning their songs.

The drop in temperature this week meant the Forest School fire was an extremely popular addition to the sessions this week. Children in KG2 enjoyed crumpets with their choice of jam or chocolate! Perfect for warming up after a play session in Forest School!

In Swimming this week the children made the most of their time in the water; splashing and playing with the toys. It is great to see the children gaining in confidence every week.

The children in KG2 have also spent some time talking about healthy eating, as part of the discussion staff spoke about the importance of keeping their teeth clean and visiting the dentist. Creating a mouth out of biscuits was definitely a creative way to demonstrate what had been discussed!

A group of hardy Rugbytots braved the cold on Thursday for their weekly session with coach Catherine. It was great to see them practicing their kicking and passing skills.

Over in Kindergarten 1 the children have also been getting in the festive spirit with staff and children donning their best Christmas Jumpers for a special Christmas Jumper Day! The children have also been working hard on their classroom Christmas displays which are starting to take shape.

The children took great delight in playing with some jelly as part of a sensory play session. The children spoke about what the jelly felt like (cold, wet and slippery) and enjoyed squishing it in their hands! The role play area was especially popular this week – the KG hairdressing salon proved a hit with all of the children (and the staff). It was great to see all of the children taking it in turns to get their hair done. The staff were very impressed with the children’s imagination, after getting their hair done the children decided that they were off to a glitzy ball!

In their Forest School session this week KH1 children made the most of the autumn leaves that carpeted the floor. Sweeping them into piles, throwing them in the air and putting some in bags! A great way to keep warm!

As always the children have also managed to get lost in a book as part of story time. All of the children sit so attentively whilst the teachers read to them!

On Wednesday singing Sarah visited Kindergarten for a weekly Shake Rattle and Groove session. This week the children learnt some new Christmas songs which they thoroughly enjoyed.
