Hawford Girls Play St Alban’s Friends in Spirited Football Fixture

The King’s Hawford girls’ football team took on King’s St Alban’s in a competitive and spirited fixture this week.

The girls worked hard throughout the match and continued to try to develop their game awareness, particularly in how they position themselves and support one another both in and out of possession.

The opening third was a tight and evenly contested affair, with Hawford defending well and staying organised. They had goalkeeper Elise to thank for keeping the scores level early on, as she produced a series of terrific saves to deny St Alban’s. Hawford then made a superb start to the second third, taking the lead through Tilly, who ran onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Ellie H before firing home a powerful finish.

Despite their continued effort and determination, the superior strength of the St Alban’s side began to show as the game progressed, and they enjoyed a spell of prolific goal scoring while the Hawford girls started to tire.

Nevertheless, there were many positives to take from the match, including an excellent performance from Bella in midfield, where she competed brilliantly against several girls who were two years older than her.

Overall, the team showed great resilience, effort and a positive attitude throughout.
