In freezing conditions, King’s Hawford U11 girls played 4 matches against some local schools to compete for the county trophy. The first three resulted in a win and two draws which put us in joint place with Bromsgrove. It was down to the final match where King’s Hawford faced Malvern St. James. The pressure was on as they had win by at least four goals in just ten minutes to come out top of the table. Bryony Gillgrass was outstanding and certainly rose to the challenge by finding the back of the net with tremendous pace and accuracy. They are now heading off to the Midland Regional competition being held at the end of March.
Mrs Marshall-Walker is delighted with their performance and attitude. She said “They worked together superbly as a team and attacked the final game with determination and energy.”
Bryony Gillgrass, the team captain, said “Although it was frustrating not to score in two out of the first three matches, our team showed great courage and strength of character in the last match to win by a considerable margin.”
