This week saw the election of our House Captains for the academic year. Pupils enjoyed their first House meetings of the new academic year this morning. Our House system is an integral part of school life at King’s Hawford, promoting a sense of community, belonging and pride. The meetings were special for a number of reasons; firstly this was the first time all of our pupils have met in their house groups this year and secondly today saw pupils pitching for the roles of House Captain and Vice Captain. Pupils are elected via a student vote that takes place in each House.
Pupils listened intently today as members of Year 6 put forward their cases for the role of Captain and Vice Captain. The pupils spoke eloquently and confidently and each pupil who spoke should be incredibly proud of themselves. It is not easy to stand in front of one’s peers and speak but the staff present at each of the House meetings have commented on how well the speakers did.
After the speeches each house voted to elect two Captains and two Vice-Captains. Congratulations to the following pupils who take the honour this academic year:
Not to be outdone, our Pre-Prep pupils also held their own House Captain votes today. Each House elected a Captain and a Vice Captain for the year. As with the Prep School House Captain vote, the children spoke with confidence and purpose and impressed their teachers highly. Well done to the following for being chosen by their peers as House Captains:
Malvern House Captains:
Bredon House Captains:
Well done to all of our newly elected House Captains!
