It’s back! The Tenner Challenge to return!

Last year’s Tenner Challenge proved to be an extremely popular initiative and helped us raise over £1200 towards our chosen school charities. It was therefore no surprise to hear about its return to King’s Hawford this term.

Staff and pupils alike were extremely excited to learn of the return of the Tenner Challenge in assembly this morning. Mr Stigant, who heads up all our school fundraising activity, made the announcement, starting by reliving the success of last year’s challenge and the brilliant fundraising ideas that we witnessed during the Spring Term in 2022. Last year, teams worked together to transform their initial £10 into as much money as they possibly could. Pupils held auctions, bake sales, craft sales, ran challenges and various other money-making schemes, all showcasing their entrepreneurial skills!

This year’s challenge will kick off on 16th February and will run on seven days across a four-week period. Pupils from Years 5 and 6 will be invited to take part. They will need to find an initial £10 investment loan from family or raid their own piggy banks and come up with money making plans! As last year, pupils will be able to submit adverts each week, which will be shared with the whole school during Wednesday assemblies. Pupils from other year groups will have the opportunity to support those taking part by bringing in small amounts of money each week.

As always, our fundraising efforts will support this year’s school charities: Get Kids GoingThe Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust and Project Gambia.

The teams will then battle it out for the Tenner Challenge Cup, which will be awarded to the pupil or team of pupils who raise the most amount of money. Mr Stigant took the children through the rules of the challenge. Year 5 and 6 pupils were left with plenty to think about!

We are very excited for the launch next month and we cannot wait to see with what fantastic money-spinning ventures the Year 5 and 6 pupils come up!
