King’s Foundation Unite for Cross Country Event
On Thursday afternoon, pupils from across the King’s Foundation took part in the annual cross-country event at Winterfold School.
The competition featured teams from King’s Hawford, King’s St Alban’s, and King’s Worcester, creating a wonderful opportunity for pupils to compete alongside and support their peers from across the foundation.
U11 Cross Country
Ten Year 6 pupils from King’s Hawford travelled to Winterfold for what turned out to be a sunny and warm afternoon of running. The U11 Hawford team showed outstanding determination and resilience, with all runners giving their best to secure strong finishing positions. A standout performance came from Jude R, who earned a well-deserved bronze medal by finishing in third place. It was also a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to run alongside their foundation peers from King’s St Alban’s and to cheer on the King’s Worcester U13 runners in the later races. The sense of camaraderie among the foundation schools was clear, making it a truly enjoyable event for all involved.
U13 Cross Country
The combined Year 7 and 8 U13 team from King’s Worcester also competed at Winterfold. The conditions were ideal for cross country, and the boys’ and girls’ teams put in impressive performances. For the girls, Helena C shone, finishing in 2nd place, an especially impressive achievement for a Year 7 runner competing in a mixed-age group. The boys’ team also delivered strong results, placing 3rd out of the seven teams, with standout performances from Jack M, who finished 5th, and Freddie P, who dominated the race and won by over 100 metres, securing his second consecutive victory in this event.
It was a great day of competition and teamwork, with pupils from across the foundation excelling on the course and supporting each other. Seeing the Year 5 and 6 teams from King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford in action also highlighted the strong pipeline of talent coming through the prep schools, ensuring a bright future for cross country at King’s Worcester.
The event was a fantastic celebration of sportsmanship, effort, and foundation unity.
