King’s Hawford Carol Service Fills Cathedral with Festive Spirit
The annual King’s Hawford Carol Service brought together children, staff, and families for an evening of joyful music and festive celebration.
The choirs performed a selection of enchanting pieces, with many Year 5 and 6 students delivering beautiful descants.
The Junior Choir captivated the audience with “Walking in the Air”, while the Senior Choir impressed with “Somewhere Only We Know” and a stunning rendition of “In The Bleak Midwinter”, featuring the traditional words set to a modern tune.
The service opened with a brave and confident solo by Jasper P, who sang the first verse of “Once in Royal David’s City”. The congregation joined in with traditional carols, including Once in Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.
Adding a contemporary touch, the Hawford children performed the jazzy modern carols “Midnight” and “All Over the Hills”, leaving the audience thoroughly impressed.
