King’s Hawford Girls Crowned U11 Cricket Champions for Third Year Running
King’s Hawford is celebrating after the Under 11 Girls’ cricket team won the IAPS cricket tournament for the third consecutive year.
The team produced a series of outstanding performances in Bath on Tuesday, securing the title and further highlighting the remarkable rise of girls’ cricket at King’s Hawford.
Competing against an incredibly strong field and an exceptionally high standard of cricket throughout the day, the girls demonstrated composure, skill and determination from start to finish.
King’s Hawford faced Richard Pate School in the knockout rounds, delivering an assured performance to book their place in the semi-finals. A composed and disciplined team display against Bablake School followed, with the girls continuing to impress both with bat and ball to secure their place in the final.
The tournament concluded with a highly competitive and entertaining final against Cheam School, where King’s Hawford held their nerve in a closely contested match to emerge victorious once again.
Charlotte Butt, Head of Girls’ Games at King’s Hawford, commented: “To win the U11 IAPS Cricket Tournament three years in a row is a tremendous achievement and reflects the continued growth, enthusiasm and quality of girls’ cricket at King’s Hawford.”
This latest success marks another impressive milestone for the renowned cricket programme across the family of schools at The King’s Worcester, Foundation, which is regarded as one of the leading cricketing schools in the country and has a proud history of nurturing talent.
In May, the school announced an official sporting partnership with Worcestershire County Cricket Club and has also been recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 cricketing schools the prestigious Cricketer Schools Guide.
Jonny Mason, Foundation Director of Sport at King’s Worcester, commented: “King’s has a strong cricketing tradition, from producing England internationals to leading the way in both boys’ and girls’ cricket. Our commitment to nurturing talent starts with our youngest children, with many prep pupils going on to play in our 1st XI as well as following regional and national pathways. This is an incredible result for the King’s Hawford girls’ team, one which clearly has a very exciting cricket future ahead of them.”
