One week back and there is already lots to celebrate
This morning we were treated to a wonderful performance from Holly J on her saxophone at the start of our Celebration Assembly. Holly’s upbeat playing of The Bare Necessities definitely set the tone for the assembly! Thank you, Holly, for putting a smile on everyone’s face.
Our Friday assemblies are all about celebrating outstanding moments from the week. Today was no different, as Mr Butt shared a remarkable discovery with the school that definitely warrants great celebration: during a recent expedition to the Cyclops Mountains in Indonesia, a long-billed echidna was spotted. For years, the echidna was feared to be extinct, so pupils were delighted to watch a small clip of the Attenborough Long-billed Echidnas; proving that every day is a school day, they learnt that echidnas are members of one of only two species of mammals who lay eggs!

HMAs
Year One pupils have impressed with some excellent weaving in Art. They have been learning about hot and cold colours, and have undertaken some weaving to showcase the different shades. Elizabeth D, Florence, Charles, Poppy and Nancy all impressed Mrs McCullough with their weaving.
Also in Art, Year Two have been painting teddy bears. Aoife and Tanith’s teddies were carefully painted, and both girls had added different textures. Tanith has also produced some brilliant descriptive writing to describe a “Wild Thing”. Poppy B impressed Miss Kingston with her use of punctuation and vocabulary in her writing and Oliver N’s lovely piece of independent work on marine life also earned him a visit to Mr Butt for a HMA.
Year Four have been learning about the Aztecs, and pupils have produced some great posters, full of interesting facts. Well done to Annie W and Zara O, Harry J, Henry D, Nicolas HT and Adelyn K and Valerie M.
Olivia G, Chloe, Pip and Millie B co-produced an informative poster on the Blitz that contained information on key British cities which were the focus of heavy raids during the bombing.
Ahead of our Act of Remembrance, Bella W independently crafted a Remembrance Wreath.
