King's Hawford

9 September

Pre-Prep’s busy start to the term

We have had a wonderful start to the new academic year in Pre-Prep. It has been brilliant to welcome pupils back to the school and to meet new children who are just starting their King’s Hawford journey. Our new starters have settled in well and have enjoyed getting to know their new class teachers, classrooms and friends this week.

Children in Kindergarten have been making the most of the glorious weather we were blessed with at the start of the week. There has been plenty of water play, outside play and the all important first trips to Forest School and the school swimming pool!

Pre Prep

Our Reception Class children have settled in very quickly and have impressed their teachers with their confidence and can do attitudes. They have had a busy first week with Shake, Rattle & Groove, their first music lessons with Mrs Hughes, Forest School, a trip to the Library Bus, Swimming and their first Games lesson with Miss Holtham. They have even found time to make a start on their letter sounds and numbers! We are so pleased with how well they are settling into the King’s Hawford family.

Year 1 have made the big step up from Reception and have come back from the Summer holidays bursting with energy and excitement. They have enjoyed Music and Art, a trip to the library bus and a fun-filled session in forest school where they made nature crowns as the ‘super-starter’ of their topic ‘A Right Royal Fiasco’. It has been wonderful to see the children together again, they have certainly missed each other!

This week Year 2 have hit the road and running and have returned to school with a real sense of excitement for the year ahead. Monday morning pupils arrived in their new classrooms to discover 2 bears (with no names), a letter addressed to Year 2 and an empty, rickety suitcase. The children had the challenge of finding the lost bears belongings using clues and maps. The final clue to be founded required a trip on the katakunu! It’s been lovely seeing all the children reconnect with their friends after the summer holidays.

It has been fantastic to see the school come alive again this week and it has been especially wonderful to see all the Pre-Prep children with massive smiles on their faces!
