Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies is sure fire hit

This week our Year Three and Four pupils have entertained their peers, parents, friends and family with their hilarious production of Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies! During the show, the audience were transported into the depths of Sherwood Forest, where they discovered the truth behind the legend of Robin Hood. In this typical Mr Roberts production, pupils dazzled and enthralled audiences with their comedic timing, up-tempo musical numbers and high energy dance routines.

In true King’s Hawford fashion, this year’s performance was nothing short of fantastic; every pupil played their role superbly. Our Year Three pupils did tremendously well in their very first Prep production, providing vital support to Year Four by taking on the roles of villagers and knights. The singing and dancing talents of Year Three ensured that all of the musical numbers filled The Barn with sound and had the audience tapping along!

As is customary, the Year Four pupils took on the lead roles and stole the show with their brilliant performances. Jasper P in the title role of Robin Hood really shone, excelling at portraying the unsuspecting hero of the show! Charles H’s Sheriff of Nottingham was menacing and comedy gold all at the same time, whilst Arthur G captured the spirit of spoilt King John perfectly. Indie B guided the audience through this comedy take on a Disney classic as the narrator, Billy Wigglestick.

Daisy took on the role of Maid Marion and impressed with the brilliant delivery of her lines. Maid Marion’s ward “Nursie” was expertly played by Ariana, who was ably supported by the Skunk Scout Troop consisting of Austin R, Johannes K and Henry D. The villagers of Sherwood Forest included Bella P, Rosie E, Ruby K, Louis Y, Izzy W. George A and Charlotte were Robin Hood’s first “victims” in his attempts to steal from the rich and give to the poor, and all pupils delivered their lines with precise timing and aplomb!

Throughout the show Robin was supported by a band of merry men made up of Zara O, Jack J, Maisie Jayne L, Adelyn K and Robyn C. Harry J’s Will Scarlett was a late addition to the gang but played a vital role in foiling the Sheriff of Nottingham and King John’s wicked plans.

Florrie W, Annie W, Charlotte F, Nicolas HT, Valerie M and Zara O all played members of King John’s court. Florrie and Annie were excellent as the comedy duo Grabbit and Bolt. The girls’ energy was unrivalled, and it was clear to see they were thoroughly enjoying their moment in the spotlight. The Dungeon Master, Gavin Gutwrencher, was played by Charlotte F, supported by Nicolas HT as Genghis. Nicolas’ characterisation was spot on and had the audience in stitches. The guards were played by Valerie M and Jasmine O and provided comedic support and back up for the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Once again, Mr Roberts’ passion and vision helped to deliver a fantastic production. In his role as director, he used his expertise and experience to pull together a show that allowed every single pupil to showcase their talents and enjoy their moment in the spotlight. Pupils were all quick to praise Mr Roberts’ guidance and support, and we are extremely grateful for all of his efforts in this year’s show. Huge thanks also need to be extended to Miss Lake and Mrs Hughes for all of their hard work, as a show of this size requires plenty of support behind the scenes. This year’s was no different: from our Year Six backstage helpers to our team of staff hair and make-up artists, it was wonderful to see everyone pull together to deliver the show!

Well done to the entire cast and crew.
