Shorter Celebration Assembly Marks End of Successful Half Term

In a lively yet brief Celebration Assembly at King’s Hawford this week, pupils and staff gathered as usual in The Barn, entering to the upbeat tune of You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful by One Direction. The assembly was shortened due to Open Morning, but still managed to celebrate numerous achievements and milestones.

The musical highlight of the assembly was a stunning piano performance by Thomas C., who played Elegy for the Arctic by Ludovico Einaudi, showcasing his Grade Five piano skills.

Mr Cook then announced the pupils who had earned five subject merits, recognising their dedication and hard work. The honoured pupils were: Iza McG-P, Chloe T, Millie B, Pippa P, Ava H, Harriet B, Hattie D, Chloe S, Bella W, Jess K, Robyn G, Darcy B, George O, Olivia P, George G and Harry C. They will all receive a treat in the Headmaster’s Office at break-time

Following this, Mr Cook and Mrs Knight jointly announced the top House Point achievers for the week across the various year groups:

  • Reception: Cora
  • Year 1: Maha
  • Year 2: Alice
  • Year 3: Sophia
  • Year 4: India
  • Year 5: Pippa P
  • Year 6: George

The prestigious Headmaster’s Awards were given to: Olivia (Year 1), for excellent instructions, Holly, George, Robyn, James, and Cameron (all Year 6), for outstanding use of German vocabulary in a writing assignment, Holly (Year 6), for superb descriptive writing, and Maddie (Year 2), for her outstanding micro-habitat model, which she explained to the entire school.

Individual achievements outside school were also celebrated. Thea and Pippa P were recognised for their impressive performances at the Southwold Swimming Open Meet, from which they brought home numerous medals. Additionally, a team from King’s Hawford represented the School at the The Downs Malvern Aquathlon, competing in swimming and running events.

Harry J was honoured with the Players’ Player of the Season Award for the Under-Nine Team at Evesham Rugby Club.

Moving on, activity badges were awarded in various categories:

  • Reading: Eleanor and Austin
  • Music: Ava
  • King’s Hawford Badge: Ava, Annabel, Evan, George, Leighton, and Jetta
  • Humanities: Robyn
  • Sports: Arthur, James, Thomas, Charles, George, Oliver, Harry, Barnaby, Henry, Finn, and Arthur
  • Maths: James

The Senior Choir received music certificates for their outstanding performance at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts, with Mrs Hughes reading some of the feedback they received.

Mrs Knight also congratulated Gabe for becoming a Gigger and Tom for becoming a Headliner on TT Rockstars, highlighting their achievements in this educational game.

Finally, the much-anticipated House Point tallies were announced, with Bredon taking the crown last week and Kinver emerging as the top achievers this week. The assembly concluded with the singing of Happy Birthday to Matilda, Cameron, Archie, and Chaya, followed by the hymn This Day and a prayer read by Christopher, celebrating the start of the half-term break.

The assembly wrapped up on a high note, leaving pupils inspired and ready for the forthcoming break.
