U9 vs The Blue Coat School
The Year 4 girls enjoyed a wonderful start to their netball season with their first fixture away at The Blue Coat School. The afternoon was full of excitement as all three U9 teams took to the court, ensuring that every girl had the opportunity to play and represent the school.
Throughout the matches, the girls were encouraged to rotate through all positions on the court. This gave them valuable insight into the different skills and responsibilities required in each role, while also helping them develop their understanding of the whole game.
We were particularly proud of the girls’ teamwork and sportsmanship; they supported one another brilliantly and took on coaching advice to improve their game
A player of the match was nominated by the opposition for each team, recognising individuals who displayed standout effort, skill, or improvement. Well done to Emily G, Rosie LC and Martha L. A huge well done to all the girls for representing their school with such enthusiasm and energy.
Miss Lake would like to highlight Lily G who took on coaching advice and worked hard defensively. Miss Cook would like to mention Maddie P who also defended well and improved her game throughout the match. Mrs Butt would like to congratulate Tanith H who made some tremendous interceptions and attacked well.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon of sport and a fantastic way to begin the term’s fixtures. We look forward to seeing the girls continue to grow in confidence and ability as the season progresses.

Football
The football term at King’s Hawford has begun in a highly positive manner, highlighted by a very pleasing set of results in our fixtures against RGS The Grange. Teachers have been particularly impressed by the children’s enthusiasm, as well as their excellent attitude towards listening, learning, and representing the school.
U8 Football vs RGS The Grange – Mr Hodgkin’s team
The King’s Hawford U8s made an excellent start to the football term with two dominant performance against RGS The Grange. Mr Hodgkins’s team showed how hard they have been working in games, responding well to feedback to develop their team play and positional understanding throughout the match.
The standout moment was a superb hattrick from Elliott E, which included an impressive, accurate and powerful free-kick struck from well outside the penalty area. William R rounded off the scoring with a smart finish, while Archie G delivered a pleasing performance in midfield, demonstrating great energy and strong decision-making in possession.
U8 Football vs RGS The Grange – Mr Marsland’s team
The Year 3 team travelled to RGS for their first fixture of the season and made a steady, if slightly nervous, start. Both sides took time to settle, which led to a quiet first half with no goals scored as players adjusted to the competitive environment. After the break, however, our team grew noticeably in confidence. Their passing became more assured, their movement more ambitious, and they began to take control of the game.
This positive shift resulted in several well-taken goals during a strong second-half display. Players even felt confident enough to experiment with different positions, showing adaptability and a growing understanding of the game. A special mention goes to Joshua H and Hugo G, who both performed brilliantly throughout, demonstrating excellent individual skill and contributing significantly to the team’s success.
U9 Football vs RGS The Grange
The Hawford Under 9 boys sides travelled to RGS The Grange for their first football fixture of the term. Mr Stigant’s team put up an excellent display against a strong RGS team in a match that the honours could easily have gone either way throughout. The defence was resolute in containing the opposition’s attack and when they did get opportunities on goal, they found Alex S-C in excellent form as goalkeeper. Frank O and Billy K were dynamos in midfield and Sammy G led the line well. The boys went home suitably proud of themselves for a first class start to their season.
Miss Benvie’s side showed a huge amount of resilience in their match, with the whole team defending well against talented opposition. At the other end of the pitch, when they had the opportunity to put ball in the back of their opponents net the finishing did not met the quality of some great build up play. The boys will have learnt a great deal from this game that will serve them well as the season progresses.
