Spring Term Pupil Leadership Team announced
The start of a new year brings with it new beginnings. In assembly last Friday, Mr Butt was delighted to introduce the new Spring Term Pupil Leadership Team. The Pupil Leadership Team is made up of the Heads of School together with a number of Prefects to represent different elements of life at King’s Hawford.
Each Term Year 6 pupils are invited to submit an application for their chosen role by way of a handwritten letter outlining the reason or reasons that they feel that they are suitable for the role. The application process is modelled on the selection process in place for School Monitors at “Big King’s”.
Mr Butt received some brilliant applications and enjoyed reading all of the different submissions. The appointments of the Spring Term are as follows: Harriette T and Jack take on the roles of Heads of School, Rose G and Isla H-M are our new Academic Prefects, Erin L and Lottie are our Citizenship Prefects, Freddie M and Sartaaj G are our Sport Prefects and Georgia P takes up the role of Performing Arts Prefect.
Extracts from their application letters for the various appointments included:
Harriette & Jack – Heads of School
Harriette T
“I have absolutely loved being a citizenship prefect and I would love the opportunity to be a prefect again. I have watched Poppy and Max grow with their responsibilities as Heads of School over the past term and I would love to experience it for myself”.
Jack
“It’s my last year at King’s Hawford and I want to try everything I can before moving on to “Big King’s”. I have enjoyed every day since Kindergarten and I want to step up in my last year of primary school. I love Hawford because it has a very welcoming atmosphere, the teachers make the lessons fun, we have a lot of sport and other subject opportunities for us to shine. I am happy and proud that I’m a part of Hawford and love being a representative for the school”.
Isla & Rose – Academic Prefects
Isla
“I enjoy helping people and making them smile and I want to be a role model to the younger children. I always work hard and try my best. I think that hard work pays off; by being a prefect I can share this with the younger children so that they have an amazing time at Hawford, just like I have”.
Rose
“I believe that I set a good example to others. I am confident when giving out speeches and talking in front of the whole school, as well as small groups of adults and children.
“I have achieved eight activity badges and proudly wear my badges on my jumper. I think that this inspires the younger pupils.”
Lottie & Erin – Citizenship Prefects
Lottie
“I would especially like to be a citizenship prefect because I really, really love to help the younger ones. On Monday I did the reindeer run with the KG – Year 2 kids; I helped them keep going and was at their side when they needed me”.
Erin
“I think that I have many qualities that I would like to show all the other years and hopefully lead by example. I am kind and caring and love to help my friends, other children and all the school staff with tasks when they need help. I have loved being at Hawford and would look forward to being a strong prefect in my last year”.
Freddie & Sartaaj
Freddie M
“I would like pupils at Hawford to enjoy it as much I do and if they have any problems I would do as much as I could to sort it. This is sadly my last year at Hawford, so I would love to have this opportunity to give something back to my school as it has given me so much”.
Sartaaj
“I would like the opportunity to help others in rugby, football and other sports. I would love to help out at clubs and support people who don’t really like sports”.
Georgia – Performing Arts Prefect
Georgia P
“I have loved my time at Hawford and I want to share all the amazing experiences I have had at school with the younger pupils. One of my priorities is to be a role model and I could use all the skills I have learnt at Hawford to set a good example for the younger pupils. I would be very proud to wear a Hawford Prefect badge on my jumper”.
