King's St Alban's

6 October

Start your day the King’s St Alban’s way … dance!

At King’s St Alban’s, we firmly believe that dance is one of the most exciting ways to start the day; it wakes us up, it uses our muscles and brain and it produces a great feeling of well-being. This was most definitely evident in abundance at our ‘House’ dance challenge.

Over the past two weeks, each House was challenged with learning the ‘House Dance’, whilst enjoying the great outdoor and fresh air on the playground. The King’s St Alban’s dance club who took a leading role in the challenge, were brilliant at leading from the front and helping Pre-Prep when they weren’t sure about which steps were coming up next. Most of the movements were linked to things we can do in a house like cleaning windows, polishing tables, making cakes and washing up. The words and movements were linked, which helped the children memorise the dance.

We started with Armstrong and Bailey, who set the bar really high. Next up were Thomas and Wilson, who simply knocked it out of the park! The final dance-off took place on Thursday during morning break time, Pre-Prep were ready, the Prep school were ready and what a fantastic spectacle it was! The energy, enthusiasm and determination from all pupils across the school was incredible: they really did dance their hearts out! All the Houses did a fantastic job and there were lots of smiles and happy faces on the playground.

Now that the children know the ‘House Dance’ we can revisit it at various points in the year. The children can’t wait to do it all over again and we are sure they would be happy to show parents, friends and family; please click the link for the accompanying music My House by Jodie Harsh.
