Year 3’s Inspiring Visit to The Hive Library

After our uplifting start-of-term service at Worcester Cathedral, Year 3 embarked on an exciting educational adventure to The Hive, which is home to what is believed to be the largest children’s library in Europe!

The visit began with a fascinating tour of the library, where the children learned how to locate books on a variety of topics and gained valuable library skills. This exploration not only enhanced their understanding of how libraries are organized but also introduced them to an array of exciting resources available for reading and research.

Following the tour, the children participated in a creative and engaging Inspired Postcards workshop. Working in groups, they were tasked with selecting ten books related to intriguing themes such as transport, space, dinosaurs, Ancient Egypt, and maps. Each group then worked together to create a visually captivating display that would inspire others to dive deeper into these fascinating topics. The displays were designed to spark curiosity and ignite the imagination, encouraging fellow children to explore new areas of knowledge and learning.

This hands-on, collaborative activity was not only a wonderful way to enhance their understanding of various subjects but also an opportunity to develop teamwork and communication skills. The day at The Hive was a fantastic way to start the term, fostering creativity and a love of reading in the children as they explored new ideas and concepts.
