Year 5 & 6 Production of Grease Delights Audiences

The Bartholomew Barn was transformed into the vibrant world of Rydell High School as the Year 6 classes of 2026, supported by a talented Year 5 chorus and dance ensemble, delivered an energetic and thoroughly entertaining production of Grease.

Leading the cast, Sam L-C brought charisma and stage presence to the role of Danny Zuko, while Bella P shone as Sandy Dumbrowski, capturing her character’s journey from shy newcomer to confident Rydell student. Maysie-Jayne L impressed as the sharp-witted, sassy Rizzo, and Charles H gave a strong performance as Kenickie, helping to anchor the central story with confidence and style.

The T-Birds made a fabulous contribution to the success of the production. Louis Y brought warmth and humour to the role of Doody, while Jasper P’s Sonny La Tierri provided plenty of comic moments and excellent characterisation. Arthur G impressed as Roger with his confident stage presence and lively performance.

The Pink Ladies were equally impressive, bringing confidence, personality and humour to every scene. Ariana P gave a charming performance as Frenchy, while Izzy W’s Marty was full of character. Valerie M captured Jan’s fun-loving nature with great enthusiasm and comic flair, and together with Rizzo, the group formed a strong and believable friendship at the heart of the production.  Their lively interactions, impressive vocals and engaging stage presence ensured that the Pink Ladies and T-Birds were a constant highlight throughout the show. Together they created a believable and entertaining group dynamic displaying strong chemistry, energy and camaraderie, capturing the spirit of the iconic gang and delighting the audience throughout the show.

There were superb solos from a large number of characters, including Danny’s pitch-perfect and emotional rendition of ‘Sandy’; Sandy’s beautiful and heartfelt ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’; Kenickie’s ‘Greased Lightning’; Marty’s dreamy ‘Freddy My Love’; Johnny Casino’s (Will G’s) energetic ‘Born to Hand Jive’; Doody’s sweet ‘Those Magic Changes’; Teen Angel’s (Harry Jacobs’) effortless ‘Beauty School Dropout’; and Rizzo’s suitably mocking ‘Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee’. Duets from Roger and Jan in the entertaining ‘Mooning’ and Roger and Doody in ‘Rock & Roll Party Queen’ gave variety, and the stand-out ‘You’re The One That I Want’ from Sandy and Danny was a totally ‘wicked’ highlight.

The full-cast dance and musical numbers were a particular highlight, with standout performances of Summer Nights, Greased Lightning, Born to Hand Jive, and You’re the One That I Want. The Year 5 chorus and dancers added energy and colour throughout, helping to create a lively and immersive atmosphere.

The choreography was polished and inventive, while the costumes, props and staging brought the 1950s setting vividly to life. The wider staff team – on sound and tech, hair and make-up, costumes and changes, and numerous behind-the-scenes roles, all played an essential part in ensuring the production ran smoothly.

A special mention must go to Daisy E, who stepped into the role of Head Teacher Miss Lynch at extremely short notice, just six hours before the first performance. Her professionalism, composure and confident performance under pressure were a real credit to her and to the production as a whole. Everyone was delighted for Georgia B that she was able to return to her role in the second performance.

Under the expert direction of Mrs Hughes, supported by Mrs Beech and the wider production team, the children delivered a confident and highly enjoyable performance. The production was a celebration of teamwork, creativity and commitment from everyone involved.

The Year 5 and 6 production of Grease was a monumentally memorable and uplifting success, leaving audiences thoroughly entertained and incredibly proud of the cast and crew.
