King's Hawford

25 November

Concert showcases Musical Talent.

On Thursday evening, we held our second Informal Concert of the Autumn Term. Our Informal Concerts allow performers of all levels to take to the stage in a relaxed setting. This week’s concert was no different; a total of 22 performers took to the stage in The Barn, performing in front of an audience of family and friends. Of the 22 performers, some were experienced and some were novices, but all supported one another.

During the concert the audience were treated to a host of different instruments including violin, piano, saxophone, flute, trombone and voice. There was a plethora of violin performers from Year 2, including Evelyn J, Ellie M, Rosie J, Fearne B, Ellie H, Simi H and Alanna A. We also had wonderful violin performances from Lyra H in Year 4 and Sam McV in Year 5. It is safe to say our orchestra will be in a very strong place for years to come.

There was also representation from the woodwind and brass instruments, with Barnaby B and James B performing on the saxophone and trombone respectively. Both gave lively performances of The Bare Necessities by Terry Gilkyson that had the audience tapping along. Jasper P was the first to perform and delivered a faultless performance on the drums that set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Ffion W, Isaac H, Georgia P and Michelle Z all played the piano. One of the wonderful things about our Informal Concerts is that they showcase the musical journey that is on offer at King’s Hawford. This could be seen from the performances of Ffion, Isaac and Georgia in Year 2, who are just starting lessons, to that of Michelle in Year 6, who wowed the audience with her performance of Praeludium & Fuga No.15 in G major by J.S Bach.

As always thank you to the audience for your support and thank you to our wonderful music teachers who go above and beyond each week.
