On Wednesday 19th May, four cathedral choristers were presented with medallions in a special Evensong in Worcester Cathedral. In a ceremony postponed since the beginning of the academic year, Giles E received the Worcester Lodge No. 280 Bi-centenary Choral Foundation scholarship, Sebastian C received the Elgar Foundation Scholarship, Benedict R received the Rowlands Trust scholarship and the Old Choristers’ Association award, and Frederick E received the Elmley Foundation award.
The Cathedral’s Director of Music, Samuel Hudson said, ‘It was wonderful to finally be able to present these four choristers with their medallions – they have waited patiently while the pandemic has delayed proceedings, but will now be able to wear the medallions proudly at every cathedral service. They have each worked hard and shown great dedication to the choir to earn the awards, and I am extremely grateful to the boys and their families for their continuing commitment to the choir and cathedral. Well done!’
