Performers Take to the Stage for Chance to Dance

Chance to Dance is just as it says: a chance for pupils in the Prep School to dance on a stage with lights, costumes, music and an audience! Pupils have the option to showcase dances they have previously learnt, or they can partner up with a friend or two to choreograph their own dances.

Monday evening’s Chance to Dance was a real celebration of artistic expression. Our Year Six pupils were excited and ready to take centre stage in the impressive John Moore Theatre at the Senior School. There was a real variety of dance styles on display throughout the show, ranging from modern to contemporary and ballet to jazz.

As well as dances from our Year Six pupils, the audience were also treated to two performances from Dance Club. In their first dance, club members choreographed a fun-filled routine to Dua Lipa’s Dance the Night from the Barbie movie. Their second dance was about spreading the love of Christmas time. They danced to Gabrielle Aplin’s  The Power of Love; the girls and boys in Dance Club worked hard to devise their own duets for this dance.

The standard was incredibly high, and it was clear that a great deal of time and effort had gone into the choreography of each dance. Most importantly, it was clear to everyone in the audience just how much the pupils were enjoying their performances.

Watch this space for the next Chance to Dance and well done to everyone who took part. As they say on Strictly: “Keep dancing!”
