King's Hawford

School Parliament members sworn in

Today’s Celebration Assembly saw an historic Hawford moment take place, as our very first School Parliament convened. This year the decision was made to create a School Parliament, giving our pupils an even greater voice. In previous years, pupils have held roles on our School Council and Eco Council. School Parliament brings together these roles, allowing for greater collaboration between pupils.

The newly-created School Parliament features three branches: Eco Council, Well-being Council and Co-Curricular Council. Each council will work independently, but will report to the School Parliament.

At the start of term, pupils were given the opportunity to stand for a role in School Parliament. Mini-elections took place in classrooms, with pupils voting for their peers. In Assembly today Mr Stigant, the Heads of School, Darcy B and Henry W, and our Citizenship Prefects, Ava W and Rhys W helped announce the members of School Parliament.

The following pupils take up places on our Eco Council:

Jetta P, Robyn G, Rhys M, Iza M-P, Thomas C, Arthur G, Harry J, Cassian W, Aurelia A, Emily G, William C, Florence J, Poppy B, Senna N and Cora D-H.

The following pupils take up places on our Well-being Council:

George M, Teddy C, Cameron H-T, Arthur O, Robin C, Daisy E, Annie W, Ellie M, Persie D, Sadie G, Ellis N, Trixie W and Mia B.

The following pupils take up places on our Co-Curricular Council:

Ava H, George O, Elliott C, Jess K, Finn M-P, Jasmine O, Florence W, Amelie B, Sophia R, Tanith H, William K, Charlie B and Joshua H.

After all of the pupils had taken their seats in the School Parliament, they were asked to take the King’s Hawford Parliamentary Oath, promising to serve the King’s Hawford pupil body to the best of their ability!
