There was lots of fun to be had in Holiday Club this Easter break. It was lovely to see children of all ages and schools mix and play happily. We also had a few tears, but only because the children didn’t want to leave!
As ever, the trips were popular, with ice skating proving to be a particular favourite! Two minibuses took 20 excited children for an hour on the ice all to themselves! There was also a trip to Laser Quest and a cinema trip to see Sonic the Hedgehog 2, enjoyed by staff and children alike.
The children loved our King’s St Alban’s Holiday Club Bake Off day; they baked their own cakes and decorated them with eggs, chicks, icing and sprinkles galore. They all took it very seriously and there was tough competition! Mr Doodes was given the unenviable task of choosing the winners in the different age categories and the winners were delighted to receive a chocolate Easter Egg for a prize. The winning table received a crème egg and there was a small chocolate treat for all of the participants for their effort, skills and imagination.
On the Wednesday it was our very popular swimming day. 24 children took part in two swimming lessons each. They were taught by Mrs Monkhouse and her team, Louis, Lucy and James, who are all competitive swimmers themselves and have competed at National level. The children worked hard on their stroke techniques in the four strokes and learned new skills such as tumble turns and diving.
On the last day it was party time! A whopping 47 children attended a fun packed day with a bouncy castle, a team quiz, traditional party games and a play swimming session. There were lots of tired but happy children!
Holiday club finally closed at 9pm after the much-loved Pizza and Movie night. The children had a yummy pizza and chips supper and then settled down to a choice of two movies with popcorn.
Holiday Club returns in the summer for more fun on Thursday 7th July until 29th July and then 15th August until 26th August. Hawford Holiday Club will be open for Holiday Club provision while we are closed.
