1st Team Triumphs in Key Matches as U12s Shine in Early Hockey Fixtures

The hockey season continued its flying start, with stellar performances across both the senior and U12 teams over the past week. From dominant victories to valuable tournament experience, players across all age groups are demonstrating tremendous potential.

On Friday, the 1st Team secured a resounding 10-0 win against King’s High Warwick 2nd XI in the England Hockey Cup. The team showcased outstanding skill and cohesion, taking control of the match from the outset. This fixture also provided a fantastic opportunity for younger players to step up and gain valuable experience in the 1st Team, adding depth to the squad as they progress through the competition.

The winning momentum continued into the week with the 1st Team’s second fixture on Tuesday, 24th September, where they faced Repton in the second round of the Independent Schools Hockey Cup (ISHC) at Stourport. In a fiercely contested match, the team came out on top with a well-deserved 2-0 victory. This result sees them advance further in the ISHC, and the team is looking stronger with each performance.

The U12 teams kicked off their season with a block of fixtures against Solihull. For many of the players, this was their first competitive match, with every girl getting involved. It was a fantastic learning experience, and the team showed great enthusiasm and progress, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting term ahead.

Saturday brought even more action, with both the U12A/B and U13A/B teams competing in a tournament at King’s High Warwick. The girls faced some tough opposition, but the experience of playing tournament-style hockey was invaluable. The teams worked hard throughout the day, and their efforts were praised by the coaches, who were impressed with the teamwork and determination on display.

Overall, it has been an excellent week of hockey, with both senior and junior teams showing great promise. With key victories and important lessons learned, the teams are full of confidence and looking forward to a successful and rewarding season ahead.
