A-level Business Course brought to life by Churchfields Farm
Our Upper Sixth Business students visited Churchfields Farm on Wednesday 13 September, to see a rapidly growing local business in action.
The students had a guided tour of the site to understand the diverse range of products and services on offer and sampled the award-wining ice cream.
In the boardroom, they heard first-hand from business partner and Old Vigornian Will Kerton (Os, 82-92), about some of the objectives and future plans of the business, as well as some of the threats and opportunities that it faces.
Will also dealt with a multitude of questions that our students had provided him with in advance, in a highly informative and engaging Question and Answer session.
As an output of the trip the students produced a SWOT analysis of the Churchfields business and provided this to the business partners. After the visit, they tackled two exam-style questions about Churchfields’ growth strategies.
One great quote, amongst others, that Will Kerton provided the students with during his talk was as follows: “In business, the biggest mistake is not making a choice ………….once you’ve made a choice, you’ve got to nail it.”
King’s is extremely grateful to Will and Gillian, and all of the Churchfields team, for going the extra mile for the School and for helping to bring the Business A level course alive for our students! One Upper Sixth Student said “It was fascinating to see first-hand how Churchfields have adapted and diversified in order to survive”.
