Cup Quarter-Finals for King’s U15 Girls Cricketers

On Tuesday 13th June our U15 Girls took on Haileybury in the fourth round of the School Sports Magazine National T20 Cup.

King’s batted first and, despite losing an early wicket, we were able to build a substantial partnership between Izzy D-S and Grace JVV. Smart batting, with quick singles and regular rotation of the strike, meant we were able to build a useful score. We lost some late wickets, but managed to post 126 for 5 from our 20 overs.

In Haileybury’s innings, our opposition began with some strong batting and were able to match the run rate that King’s had achieved. A bowling change brought on Sophie P, who was able to pick up two fantastic wickets in her first over; this was the turning point of the match. From thereon King’s had a real spring in their step and managed to bowl Haileybury out  for 105 with one over to go.

Special mentions must go to Izzy D-S, for her highest ever score of 62 not out, and to Katie H and Tilly M, who both picked up three wickets.

The entire King’s Foundation congratulates the U15 Girls’ cricket team on reaching the quarter-finals of the School Sports Magazine National T20 Cup, a fantastic feat. Well done girls!
