House Spirit Takes Centre Stage in a Week of Competition

Creativity, confidence and House spirit were on full display at King’s this week as pupils took part in a packed programme of drama, musical theatre, dance and music competitions.

The House Drama, Musical Theatre and Dance competition produced a series of impressive performances. Izzy L, representing Chappel, was named the Drama winner, while Castle’s Emily H took the Musical Theatre title and Sienna C secured victory in Dance for School House.

The three winners will return to the stage on 17th and 18th November as part of the Dance and Drama Showcase, giving audiences another opportunity to enjoy their talents.

House Music brought further excitement, with nearly 40 solo performances taking place during the morning before the Houses came together for a closely contested House Song competition. Oswald claimed first place with Don’t Stop Believin’, while Creighton finished second with Everywhere. The event was a wonderful celebration of participation, with pupils delivering creative and assured performances in front of the whole school.

Individual honours were shared across the Houses. Ava W of Oswald won the Lower Remove instrumental class, while Creighton’s Evie R took the vocal title. In the Upper Remove and Fifth Form categories, Rory W, also representing Creighton, won the instrumental competition and Emily H of Castle added the vocal title to her Musical Theatre success.

In the Sixth Form vocal competition, John E of Oswald and Amelia W of Chappel were named joint winners. Benedict R secured the Lower Sixth instrumental title for Castle, while Creighton’s Belinda P won the Upper Sixth instrumental class.

Several of the successful performers will feature in the Winners’ Concert on Thursday 15th October, alongside winners from the Lower Years Competition, and House Song performances from Oswald and Creighton.
