King’s Junior Skiers take on the slopes in Italy

Over the February half-term, 37 pupils from Lower and Upper Remove flew to Milan and then took a coach to Aprica, Italy for the annual Junior Ski Trip.

The group took part in 30 hours of Ski school instruction over their 6 days of skiing. The Italian weather did not disappoint and despite the slightly warmer temperature, the snow in Italy was fantastic.

Pupils on the trip said, ‘We were so pleased with our progress, we couldn’t do anything on the first day, not even put our skis on. By the end of the week, we were on the top of the mountain skiing the hardest reds!’

The resort was brilliant, and the group were able to ski all the way from the top to the bottom without catching any lifts. The pupils participated in many fun activities, such as floodlit bum boarding, ice-skating, pizza night in a local restaurant, karaoke and an awards presentation. One pupil said ‘it was great to explore a new country and try a new language. I also really enjoyed the variety of activities such as bum boarding and ice-skating, in addition to fantastic skiing.

Mr Wilson said,’ It was great to get the group on the snow and see all those new to skiing making such good progress.  It’s always good to hear how much fun the day has been, about the crashes, and see people getting hooked into such a rewarding sport.  Look out for the forthcoming ski trip video!’
