Netball Season Sees 25 King’s Teams Play 248 Fixtures

The 2026 netball season has come close at King’s, as we look back on a hugely successful period that saw 248 fixtures played across 25 weeks and 21 Saturdays of competition.

This season, the programme featured 25 teams across the school, from U12 through to Seniors, with the standard of play remained consistently high throughout.

Players showed outstanding commitment, energy and resilience, with strong performances across all age groups and an excellent level of intensity in both matches and training.

Director of Netball, Miss Cox, said: “What has stood out this season is the positivity and willingness to learn that every player has shown. You’ve supported each other, pushed each other, and celebrated every success along the way.

U12

Our U12 squads enjoyed an exceptional season. U12A and U12B were both crowned District Champions, while U12A also went on to become County Champions. With 38 regular attendees at training, this age group has built an exciting foundation for the future, combining enthusiasm, skill and a strong team spirit.

U13

The U13 players also had an impressive year, finishing the season as District Champions. With 25 regular attendees at training, the group showed great dedication and made excellent progress across the term, developing both confidence and consistency on court.

U16

Our U16 team delivered a standout campaign and finished as County Champions, a fantastic achievement that reflects their hard work, teamwork and determination throughout the season.

Seniors

U18A

Our U18A squad enjoyed a particularly memorable season on the tournament circuit. They were Cup Winners at both the Rugby Tournament and the Bristol Grammar Tournament, Plate Winners at the Oundle Tournament, and also reached the quarter-final of the Sister in Sport competition. These results are a testament to the team’s quality, composure and competitive spirit.

Miss Cox said: “From the first pre-season training session to Superball, this team has been outstanding and full of momentum shifts. We’ve shown strong consistency across friendly fixtures to secure solid wins, all while playing with focus, intensity, and belief.”

U18B and U18C

Our U18B and U18C players were equally impressive, consistently pushing one another in training and showing real determination to improve. Their commitment extended beyond match days, with many attending gym sessions and additional position-specific workshops. U18B completed an unbeaten season, an outstanding accomplishment that reflects the squad’s dedication and depth of talent.

Superball

Superball marked the end of a strong season and gave the team a chance to enjoy a final game together. It’s been a team that has put in a lot of work throughout the year, not just in training and matches, but in building a solid bond off court as well. That connection showed in how they played and supported each other on Saturday.

The event itself was well attended, with a full arena and plenty of support from friends and family. That backing has been important all season, and it was good to see it continue here. Younger players from across the King’s Foundation were also involved, whether as ball girls or in the crowd, and it was clear they were engaged with what they were watching.

On court, both the first and second team games were played at a high intensity. The seconds started off the events in an extremely a closely contested game from start to finish with both teams taking the lead at various stages. The team demonstrated fantastic defensive work, and as a unit forcing a high turnover rate.

Later in the first team fixture, the crowd enjoyed an exciting game that saw the team stick to their plan and maintain consistency, even when under pressure. There was a noticeable level of trust in their play, along with good decision-making and the ability to adjust when needed. It was clear we had purpose and upheld our legacy with integrity. The athletes were positive in approach and stayed competitive throughout, not allowing RGS to settle comfortably into their lead in the second half.

Lauren was named Player of the Match by RGS for her defensive performance, which was well deserved. More broadly, the resilience across all senior squads this season has stood out, along with a clear effort from players to keep improving which helped the firsts to prepare for this event.

Overall, Superball was a solid way to close the season and recognise the  hard work and commitment throughout the year, as well as to thank everyone who has supported the team.
