Success at Cross Country County Championships

On Thursday, three Lower Four pupils competed at the School Games Cross Country County Championships held at Lakeside. 

In perfect conditions with the sun shining, all pupils were excited to compete in this event.

In the Year 7 girls’ race, Helena had opened up a five metre lead by the first corner, which continued to extend throughout the race, eventually winning by a huge margin. It was fantastic to see such a dominant performance, meaning that Helena will go through to the National Finals in March.

Thomas E and George M started at the back of the pack in the Year 7 boys’ race and worked their way through the field well. George just missed out on a place at Nationals finishing in 9th position, and a strong sprint finish from Thomas saw him finish in 16th.

All three athletes should be very proud of their performances and we wish Helena the best of luck for National finals.
