WCCC Cricket Academy Success

In association with Worcestershire County Cricket Club (WCCC), we are proud to announce that 32 promising young cricketers across the foundation will be joining the winter training programme and WCCC Academy.

This year, we have six pupils from our junior schools (four King’s Hawford pupils and three King’s St Alban’s) joining the WCCC’s winter training programme to support with further developing their skills and technique. The WCCC County Age group (CAG) programme is a great opportunity for our pupils to improve as individuals, as they receive quality coaching and are able to train with the very best Cricketers from across the County. Some of these Cricketers will also have the opportunity to represent the County throughout the summer in their fixtures.

In addition to the WCC CAG winter training programme, we have 25 boys and girls from Years 8-11 who have been selected to join the King’s Senior Cricket Academy. Our programme focusses on technical, tactical and athlete development but also provides the opportunity for each participant to work on specific areas of their choice. The use of video analysis in each session gives the pupils a chance to take ownership of their own game and allows them to see where they can make improvements. Aspiring bowlers will also have the opportunity to work with professional WCCC cricketers, Charlie Morris and Ben Twohig, who will provide specific support as part of the programme. Being part of this academy will set these cricketers up for the 2021 season and beyond.

We are delighted we are able to work so closely with Worcestershire County Cricket Club, having so many of our pupils involved in their winter programme and academy. Well done to all our cricketers who have worked so hard to achieve this amazing opportunity.
