King’s U14 Squad Qualify for the England Netball National Finals

King’s U14 netball team have qualified for the England Netball National finals.

The Regional finals, which took place at Pheonix Collegiate School, saw the U14 girls team win all of their group matches convincingly to qualify for the semi-finals against King’s High Warwick. The girls put out an impressive performance to progress through to the final where they met a strong Bromsgrove side. Finishing second overall in the West Midlands and qualifying for the National Finals is a huge achievement.  The girls showed grit and determination on the court and supported the U16 and U19 teams when they were not playing.

The King’s School Worcester was the only school in the West Midlands to have all three age groups at the Regional Finals and then all three to progress through to the semi-finals; a first for the school and a special day for Netball at King’s.

The U14 team will now compete against the other regional finalists at the National Finals on March 12th at Oundle School.

Miss Ormandy U14 coach said “I was extremely proud of how well the squad conducted themselves both on and off the court on Sunday. It was a special moment to have all three age groups competing for a spot at nationals and each age group came to support their peers when not playing themselves. The U14 squad all played and contributed to the day’s performances, and I know how excited the girls will be to know they have an opportunity to compete against the top netball schools in the country.”

Director of Netball Mrs McGinley said:

Having three teams at Regionals and then three teams in the semi-finals, shows the huge amount of depth that we have in each age group. We have reached the National Finals on six occasions in the last seven years, highlighting the enthusiasm and effort from both the athletes and staff: Our aim is to reach the National Finals every year and I am very proud of all of the age groups that performed on Sunday and wish the U14’s every success on the 12th March.
