Spectacular Success in the Pool for King’s Swimmers

On Friday 26th January, King’s swimmers attended the Invitational Swimming Relays hosted by Bromsgrove School. The event was attended by 17 schools from all over the country, including Loughborough, Headington, Abingdon and Newcastle.

This event has always been one of the swimmers’ highlights on the calendar and, having not taken place since 2020 due to COVID, there was great excitement from the King’s teams. The competition was as fierce as ever, and winning medals could not be taken for granted.

King’s fielded a full team of Under 15 and Under 18 girls and boys and, without exception, everyone swam well. All teams made the A finals (for the top eight teams), which is a tremendous achievement.

The Under 15 Boys, Ollie S, Harry C, Alex McV and Hans C, were a credible sixth in the Medley Relay and fifth in the Freestyle against intense competition.

The Under 15 Girls, Florence V, Bella R and Grace E, were joined by 13-year-old Mia G and also performed well, achieving sixth in both relays.

The Under 18 Girls, Grace R, Grace E, Catherine H and Talullah R, were disappointed to be pipped to fourth in the Freestyle final but swam a magnificent Medley race, winning Bronze in the final in a nail-biting finish, only missing Silver by 0.19 seconds!

The Under 18 Boys, Ben G, Aled L, Harry C and Dylan L, dominated their age group, winning both relays, beating Abingdon and Loughborough College in both races. This was particularly impressive, as three of the swimmers were 16 years old and one just 14!

To win trophies and medals amongst such tough competition was amazing. All our swimmers showed good team spirit and true professionalism in the water and poolside. Well done, all!
