Nine King’s Rowers Navigate the Nationals in Nottingham

On Saturday, nine of our rowers travelled to the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham to represent the West Midlands in the annual Junior Inter-Regional Regatta. Competitors from Scotland and every region of England and Wales contested all boat classes over the day.

Freddie G (UR) raced in the J15 Single Scull event, achieving nineteenth place in his initial time trial, which placed him in the C-Final. Our Fifth Form Boys’ Quad Scull of Charlie M-W, Bentley L, Luke M and Toby A took twelfth spot in their time trial, while our FF Girls’ Four of Jess M, Jasmine S, Sophie E and Emelia S also qualified for the B-Final, having come ninth.

All the rowers attacked the finals with great vigour and determination, excelling in the side-by-side competition, which is fought out with six boats across the width of the lake. They were all able to progress in their placement from the time trials, with Freddie coming third in his final, the Boys’ Quad finishing fifth and the Girls’ Four a spectacular second.

Well done to all the rowers on their magnificent performances, representing King’s and the West Midlands in such fantastic fashion.
