Outstanding Development and Fixture Triumphs for U12 Rugby Teams

The U12 rugby programme at King’s Worcester has enjoyed a truly memorable season, with four squads and over 45 boys regularly attending training and making outstanding contributions to an impressive year of progress, teamwork, and success on the pitch. Their unwavering commitment, boundless energy, and infectious enthusiasm have been a source of pride for all involved and an absolute pleasure for the coaching team. Across all four teams, the boys played 29 fixtures and experienced just four losses throughout the entire season, a remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about their quality and resilience.

The A team set the standard with a remarkable record, winning eight matches, losing just two, and drawing one. Over the course of the season, they scored an impressive 310 points while conceding only 150, a testament to their attacking flair and resolute defence. The campaign was filled with thrilling moments, including a dynamic start against Solihull, commanding victories over Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School and Dean Close, and a heart-stopping local derby against RGS Worcester that ended in a dramatic 20-20 draw. With 22 boys representing the A team throughout the season, it was inspiring to see the development of leadership within the group, as players took on responsibilities and encouraged each other on and off the pitch. Their camaraderie and determination in challenging games were defining features of their success.

The B team had an equally stellar season, with results that rivalled even those of the A team. Winning eight matches, losing only one, and drawing one, they demonstrated dominance across the field, reflected in their impressive points difference. Many players from the B team progressed to represent the A team during the season, highlighting the depth of talent within this year group and the supportive, aspirational nature of the squad.

The strength of this cohort was further showcased by the formation of C and D teams, an achievement in itself and a reflection of the boys’ enthusiasm for rugby. The C team enjoyed a fantastic season, winning six matches, drawing one, and losing just two. Meanwhile, the ability to field a D team underscored the depth of talent and commitment within the group.

Training sessions were the beating heart of this success, brimming with activity and a focus on developing essential rugby skills such as handling, tackling, rucking, and exploiting overlaps. The boys approached each session with a first-rate attitude, translating their hard work into significant improvements both individually and collectively. The exceptional turnout at training not only strengthened their technical abilities but also fostered a strong sense of unity and team spirit.

This U12 group is brimming with potential, and their achievements this season suggest a bright future in rugby. Their teamwork, determination, and sheer enjoyment of the game have made coaching them an absolute privilege. With such a strong foundation to build on, the sky truly is the limit for this talented and dedicated group of players. Here’s to many more tries, tackles, and triumphs in the seasons to come!
