A Thriving Autumn Term for U12 and U13 Netball
The Autumn Term has been an inspiring chapter for the U12 and U13 netball squads, filled with exceptional achievements, teamwork, and personal growth.
For the U12s, the term began with an impressive turnout, with over 30 girls regularly attending afterschool clubs and all Lower Fourth girls actively engaging in the netball programme during their games sessions. This dedication has fostered rapid skill development, as the girls honed both their technical and tactical abilities. A key highlight has been the involvement of senior netball players, who generously volunteered their time to lead warm-ups and support club activities. Their guidance not only improved the younger players’ skills but also created a sense of mentorship and unity across year groups.
The U12 teams have demonstrated their progress through a series of friendly fixtures, showcasing their growing confidence and teamwork. Notably, the U12 A team excelled in national cup fixtures, advancing to the final 16, where they tested their abilities against strong opponents. These matches were invaluable in building resilience, determination, and camaraderie among the players.
The U13s have mirrored this passion, with over 25 girls consistently attending Monday afterschool training sessions. Many others balanced their drama commitments with their dedication to the sport, reflecting the incredible enthusiasm and versatility of the group. This term, the team embraced the concept of “through court attack,” emphasizing accountability both on and off the court. Players developed an impressive range of skills to outwit defenders and create opportunities, adding depth to their gameplay.
The U13 teams have been active in fixtures, providing players at all levels opportunities to showcase their abilities. The U13A team has gone above and beyond, traveling to represent the school at the national level. Their most significant achievement this term has been advancing to the semi-finals of the Sisters in Sport Plate Competition, following a remarkable performance in the quarter-finals.
As the Autumn Term draws to a close, the U12 and U13 netball squads can celebrate their collective successes. Their dedication, improvement, and unwavering team spirit have been the hallmarks of this term, laying a strong foundation for the challenges and opportunities ahead. The combination of skill-building, competitive fixtures, and a deep sense of camaraderie has made this term an unforgettable start to the season.
