Double win leads to U16 Netballers becoming District Champions

This week our U16 netball team competed in the District Netball Tournament, held at home at Slingpool Walk.

The U16 were going into the tournament well prepared having played Cheltenham Ladies College the previous Saturday, where they were successful in gaining a victory. The first team also played CLC, both teams having had the fixtures moved indoors into our Keyes Hall because of the miserable weather!

During the tournament, the U16’s first played Blessed Edwards and won 20-1, they then faced RGS and secured a victory, 11-4. This meant the team convincingly won the District Tournament, congratulations to all the girls involved! They now progress to the County tournament as District Champions!

This year the U16’s are a strong squad with every squad member involved in Severn Stars Nova Academy, training twice a week at either KSW or RGS. Director of Netball, Mrs McGinley says, “This was a dominant display by a talented U16 squad. Having reached the national finals at U14 they are now looking to repeat their success at U16. Mrs Longley is looking forward to working with the squad this season and is excited to help develop their skills and tactical awareness.”

The next tournament is due to be played on the 18th November at Bromsgrove School and we wish the girls the best of luck in the next round!

To make parents aware, next Wednesday’s game against Hartpury College has now been postponed. The next fixture is 15th October against RGS Dodderhill.

We also wish the U14 girls’ good luck as they continue to prepare for their district tournament which is taking place on Monday.
