First-ever Regional Tennis Match for King’s

Last Thursday Ollie W (FF), Jack B (LR), Harry W (UR) and Tom E (FF) played in the first-ever Division 1 Regional tennis match for the school, where the boys travelled to Ivanhoe College in Ashby de la Zouch. The previous round was played in the rain, where the boys beat Bromsgrove School, so they were looking forward to a competitive fixture in the sunshine!

All the boys faced tough games, but Tom E had an impressive victory in his singles match, winning the set 6-0, along with Harry W winning 6-1. Jack B faced a challenging opponent, and each game in the set was tight, with Jack narrowly missing out.

Both pairs won their doubles matches, with Ollie and Jack having an amazing performance to come back from 3-1 down to win the next five games and win 6-3. During this set, the pair showed great composure and resilience to win back the games. To finish the match the boys set up the point well and finished it with an incredible volley! Harry and Tom beat their pair in a clinical 6-0 victory, displaying a collected performance from both. Harry’s serving was fantastic, with lots of aces and unreturnable serves, helping them to success.

Overall King’s won the Regional tennis fixture 10-2 with an excellent performance winning 5 out of 6 sets, meaning they progress to the next round. It is unclear at the moment who they will be facing next, however they are looking forward to a home game.

Congratulations to all the boys involved and best of luck in the next round!
