Congratulations to our four Lower Sixth boys who have progressed to the U18 Worcester Warriors Academy and played their first matches for the squad.
Alex T (Scrum Half), George B (Back row /Second Row), Ben W (Front Row) and Will C (Second Row) have all been in the wider squad since U14s but have now progressed to the elite U18s team. The Worcester Warriors Academy is the Worcester U18s which is one of twelve Premierships academies in the country.
All four boys play for the King’s first XV team and have been supported on their rugby journey by our Athlete Development Programme and one on one Strength and Conditioning sessions with Harry Cronin, Head of S&C. Usually they would have played a tournament starting in December but due to Covid they are now currently playing a series of games against Exeter, Gloucester, Harlequins and Bristol. So far, they have played Exeter and Gloucester. They are yet to play Harlequins on May 22nd May and Bristol on May 30th. Good luck to the boys in these upcoming matches.
All four boys have huge potential and are hoping to continue playing in the academy next year whilst playing for King’s. They will then either be offered a professional contract or balance their rugby with University. Whilst this is the top end of the academy King’s also has a number of students in the younger years Worcester Warriors squad including six in year 11.
This is an amazing achievement to the four boys who have been selected and played for the Worcester Warriors Academy. We very much look forward to hearing how these boys continue to play and progress further in their rugby.
