Foiled Again! King’s Fencers Emerge Victorious
Three of our Lower Fourth fencers had a wonderful day at last week’s ‘Teams Fencing Day’, held at RGS.
Toby O (L4D), George R (L4D) and Dalemyr C (L4E) had a great day at their first competition for King’s, winning two out of three group games. They then went on to emerge victorious in a thrilling playoff match with a score of 30-28.
Fencing at King’s
King’s is fortunate to have a highly-qualified permanent Fencing coach who takes all age groups for varying amounts of time during our afterschool Fencing Club on Mondays.
Pupils are coached in groups by weapon, skill level and age, with full support for each individual. The Autumn Term is the most popular, with over 30 participants from King’s St. Alban’s through to the Upper Sixth. A core of around 15 attends the club all year round. A full kit is provided and older pupils have the opportunity to gain coaching qualifications. Annually we have two team competitions against RGS Worcester and a number of individual regional and national competitive opportunities.
