King’s Athletes Continue Exceptional Season

King’s athletes have continued their exceptional season, with pupils across all age groups participating in the Hereford & Worcestershire County Championships and the ESAA Track and Field Cup Midlands A Final after qualifying earlier in the season.

Every pupil has given their all against some outstanding competitors, resulting in a string of medals and record-breaking results for our young track and field stars.

Hereford & Worcestershire County Championships

A large number of King’s pupils competed in the Hereford & Worcestershire County Championships; one of the biggest fixtures of the year, where pupils have qualified through the district round to compete for Worcester City against the other district teams.

King’s had the largest number of qualifiers from the district, with over 40 athletes making the team and many doing multiple events.

A special congratulations must go to Ethan W, (FF), and Daisy J, (UR), for their huge successes on the day. Ethan won all three of his events, Hurdles, 100m and Shot Putt, a truly fantastic achievement, especially in the middle of his GCSE exams. Daisy also secured three medals; gold in the Hurdles, silver in the Triple Jump and bronze in the 100m. It is excellent to achieve one medal at this level of competition, so to achieve 3 is very impressive and something no King’s pupil has done for many years.

There were many other excellent performances throughout the day and King’s achieved top eight finishes in over 20 events.

Medals were achieved by the following athletes:

Gold Silver Bronze
Ben A – Triple Jump

Ella P – 800m

Ethan W – Hurdles 100m & Shot

Daisy J – Hurdles

Evie D – High Jump

Daisy J – Triple Jump

Anna C – Javelin

Anna C – Discus

Ollie T – High Jump

Jack F – Shot

Lucy T – 1500m

Daisy J – 100m

Aiden A – Discus

ESAA Track and Field Cup Midlands A Final

Our athletes continued to be very busy with our Junior Girls and Inter Girls teams qualifying to the ESAA Track and Field Cup Midlands A Final. This is a unique National competition where each athlete has to compete in both and track and field event to score points for their team.

To make it to the Midlands A Final is an impressive achievement with over 90 schools entering the County qualifiers and only nine schools getting the required points to make the A final.

In very hot but windy conditions all the girls gave their best against some of the best athletes across the region. A special mention must go to Helena C, (L4), who achieved 30 points for her 1500m time of 5minutes 1 second, which also broke the school record for the third time this year.

Our year 7 and 8 boys and girls will also compete in the Mercia IAPS qualifier tomorrow and we look forward to seeing how they get on again against some of the top athletes across the region.
