King’s Rowers Represent West Midlands at Regional Regatta

Nineteen King’s rowers proudly represented the West Midlands at the annual Junior Inter Regional Regatta on Saturday 26th April.

The event hosts 14 rowing regions from England, Wales and Scotland at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham, with rowers up to Fifth Form. Having eight boats selected was a massive achievement and they all rowed exceptionally well.

Our King’s rowers competed in time trials in the morning, progressing to finals in the afternoon. Among the great performances our Fifth Form Girls Pair of Emily E and Issy S took fifth place in their A – Final. Our Fifth Form boys Double Scull of Lucas C and Freddie B executed their race with perfection, rowing to the front of the pack as the race progressed and taking victory in the B- Final.

The Upper Remove Girls Quad Scull of Issy W, Henrietta V, Florence V, Evie G and Oliver C, provided a very exciting last race of the day. They raced well to make their way through the field in a captivating A – Final, ultimately they had to settle just outside the medals as the 2nd to 5th placed boats swept over the line with less than one second separating them.

Congratulations to all our rowers on representing both your school and your region superbly.
