KSW Electives Series: You’re Speaking my Language!
One unique and thoroughly worthwhile opportunity in our KSW Electives programme is the chance to acquire the skills required to communicate with others in some very special ways. In addition to their A-levels, students can spend two years gaining valuable qualifications in British Sign Language (BSL) Level One and Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
With huge demand for English teachers across the globe, there are myriad opportunities available for TEFL certified teachers, and our course teaches students everything they need to know to start teaching English for the first time. In addition, BSL Level One enables students to understand and use simple sentences in BSL, learning to fingerspell places, names, numbers and objects. They will also explore everyday topics and discuss them using BSL. This is an ideal course for those wishing to integrate sign language into their lives or work with those in the deaf community.
KSW Electives is a fundamental element of our modern, progressive, and enhanced Sixth Form Curriculum, running alongside our A-level provision and our Life Skills Programme to prepare students for the world beyond King’s with an emphasis on further education and future employability. Like our other KSW Electives offerings, this course offers an excellent opportunity to learn skills and gain two recognised qualifications, meaning our students will stand out from the crowd, making them very attractive to future employers and acting as a gateway to employment.
