L6 artwork selected for Young Artists’ Summer Show

The Art Department is celebrating the success of two of their students, Lily S and Anna P, who have both had their L6 artwork selected for the prestigious Young Artists’ Summer Show, run by the Royal Academy.  Lily’s sculpture, ‘Wrapped’, explores how objects are altered when they are repaired, wrapped and tied, and is one of a series of works she made in her Lower Sixth.  Anna’s beautiful painting, ‘Night Shift’, showed her interest in observing figures in contemporary environments and was one of the highlights of last summer’s end-of-year exhibition.  The works were selected from over 17,000 that were submitted nationwide and will feature in an online Young Artists’ Summer Show exhibition, which will be ready to view shortly.  Lily also has the honour of having her L6 artwork selected and exhibited in the on-site exhibition at the Royal Academy in the autumn. Well done to both of them, and we are delighted for them and very proud of their wonderful achievement!

We are also holding a virtual exhibition of all the work that pupils have been working on, while we have been remote teaching and learning. You can view the work here.
