Online Safety Expert Runs PSHE Talk for King’s Community
King’s was delighted to welcome Karl Hopwood, a renowned online safety expert, as he ran a PSHE Spotlight Evening for the King’s community.
The talk was attended by families and staff, who were grateful to receive practical, realistic advice on techniques to protect children from potential harm online.
Karl’s advice focused on the importance of educating young people, and he shared some useful resources, available to King’s families here: PSHE Spotlight Evening — The King’s School, Worcester
A former primary headteacher, Karl is an independent online safety expert, who sits on the UK Council for Internet Safety (UKCIS) as well as the advisory board for the UK Safer Internet Centre. He also sits on the Roblox trust and safety board and has been part of an expert steering group with TikTok looking at harmful and dangerous online challenges. He holds a wide range of additional positions in organisations that aim to improve internet safety for young people, and works closely with schools to develop safer online behaviours and the better digital literacy.
As a Foundation, we are committed to enhancing our understanding of issues that impact our pupils’ safety and well-being. We are grateful that Karl continues to support and advise us here at King’s.
