Outstanding Performances at the National Winter Swimming Championships
Three talented sixth-form pupils from King’s Worcester made a splash at the 2024 National Winter Swimming Championships held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield, last week. Grace E, Ben G, and Harry C showcased their swimming prowess, earning lifetime bests and delivering standout performances in their respective events.
The championships, held from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th December, are a prestigious event in the swimming calendar. Qualifying to compete at this level is a remarkable achievement, and Grace, Ben, and Harry demonstrated their dedication and talent throughout the competition.
All three pupils excelled in their heats, with each securing a place in the 17 & Under national finals for their respective events:
- Grace E: 100m and 200m Breaststroke
- Ben G: 50m and 100m Freestyle, 50m and 100m Butterfly, and 50m Backstroke
- Harry C: 50m, 100m, and 200m Butterfly, and 50m, 100m, 200m, and 400m Freestyle
Their final results were equally impressive:
- Grace E claimed a bronze medal in the 100m Breaststroke.
- Ben G finished 9th in both the 50m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly.
- Harry C delivered a sensational performance, finishing 4th in the 200m Freestyle, 7th in the 400m Freestyle, and capturing gold in the 100m Butterfly.
These results are a testament to their hard work and commitment to their sport. Speaking about their achievements, Head of Swimming Mr Jenkinson said
