Outstanding Performances in the Lady Taverners County Cricket Finals

This week saw an outstanding display of cricket from both the U13 and U15 cricket squads in the Lady Taverners Indoor County Finals, with the U15s securing a place in the Regional Finals at Edgbaston.

U13s Battle Hard for Second Place in Worcestershire

After two dominant wins in the zonal rounds against Bishop Perowne and Nunnery Wood, the U13s carried their momentum into Monday’s Lady Taverners Indoor Regional And National Finals county finals. They played superbly in the group stage, winning all three matches, including a tense, hard-fought victory over Bromsgrove School.

Reaching the final, the team once again faced Bromsgrove in a thrilling contest. Despite their best efforts and a fantastic team performance, they narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing as Worcestershire runners-up.

U15s Triumph to Reach Regional Finals

Thursday saw the U15s step up in the county finals with an outstanding team display. They started strongly, winning their first two matches in dominant fashion—posting over 130 runs in each innings while restricting their opponents to fewer than 50.

The third game, a highly anticipated clash against Bromsgrove, proved to be the toughest test of the day. Batting first, the team set an impressive total of 120, with several players retiring after reaching the individual run limit. A disciplined bowling and fielding effort saw them restrict Bromsgrove to under 80, securing a crucial victory.

With one game remaining, the girls continued their excellent form, showcasing skill and composure. Stand-in wicketkeeper Mea impressed behind the stumps, seamlessly adapting to the role. There were some standout batting performances from Charlotte, who smashed four consecutive sixes, Tilly and Hermione retired in all 4 games and Daisy, who retired after just three balls, highlighting the team’s aggressive intent. The girls also bowled very tight to restrict their oppositions and took lots of wickets throughout the day.

The U15s’ success sees them progress to the Regional Finals at Edgbaston, a well-deserved reward for their outstanding efforts.

Both teams demonstrated fantastic skill, determination, and sportsmanship, with the U15s now looking ahead to the next stage of their journey.
