Snow and Sunshine for Junior Skiers
During the February half-term holiday, 31 intrepid Upper Remove (Y10) skiers enjoyed the Junior Ski Trip, which is always a favourite among pupils.
Despite choosing the Prato Nevoso resort in Italy, a favourite destination for KSW Junior Ski Trips in the past, for its altitude, the webcams made us nervous as we saw the lack of snow in the weeks leading up to our trip. However, two days before our departure, snowfall started, and it didn’t stop until we arrived on Sunday afternoon.
As soon as we arrived, we headed straight to the ski-hire shop, where everyone was fitted with skis, boots, poles, and helmets, ready for our first morning on the slopes.
The conditions were excellent, with plenty of snow and continuous sunshine, making everyone smile wherever they looked. The Italian ski school was exceptional, and the group of Upper Remove pupils made great progress over the week. Five hours of instructed skiing every day paid dividends, and confidence levels grew as the slopes increased in gradient.
The days were busy, and the evenings were filled with bowling, pizza, pinse (a local delicacy similar to pizza), tubing, swimming, quizzing, and karaoke. Though some faces were tired by the end of the week, everyone had thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
