U12 County Hockey Tournament

On Tuesday 11th February, a continuously improving U12 hockey team competed in the County tournament. Their first fixture against Bromsgrove was a close affair with much end-to-end play. At half time Bromsgrove was 1-0 up but the team remained composed and after many near misses, a fantastic interception and composed strike from Bea evened the game up. The team continued to push for a winner, but some excellent saves from the opposition goalkeeper kept the final score at 1-1.

The team went into the second U12 County Hockey game against RGS, with the belief that they could win but knew it would not be an easy task after a close and competitive match earlier in the year. At half time, the girls were drawing and, with 8 minutes to play, refused to settle for a draw. Soon after the restart, Phoebe calmly placed the ball inside the back post after a superb run from Bryony. This gave the girls greater confidence and they pressed more assertively, resulting in another goal being scored before the final whistle, ending the match 3-1.

The girls now move through to the Regional competition after half term as County Champions. Congratulations to this hardworking and resilient team and we wish all players the best of luck in the next round.
